TOP Hockey Rep Teams offer a unique approach to competitive hockey by combining an efficient set schedule with local practice time, competitive tournaments, and professional coaching, resulting in a positive hockey experience that helps players develop at a faster rate. One of the biggest differentiators of the TOP Hockey program is our emphasis on long-term player development and character building, along with a family-friendly schedule that allows that encourages multi-sport play.
Rep teams generally feature 3x practices per week throughout the September to April season, as well as games, festivals, and tournaments against other independent minor hockey clubs. For the 2025-2026 season, we expect the U8 Team to play approximately 12-15 games.
As teams graduate to U10 and older, our goal is to have teams participate in the Ontario Rep Hockey League, which features competitive games, scores and standings, and a full 32-game schedule. Academy teams are designed for advanced players who are at the traditional "rep" level, with tryouts taking place in early April.

Evaluation Process
Player evaluations, especially for players this age, is far from a perfect science. Our goal is to field a team of players who are of similar skill level to avoid a large discrepancy from top to bottom. We will be looking to assess what level the players are at and whether this team is currently a good fit. We will also be assessing whether the family fits with our club philosophy of no parent politics, strong focus on development, and creating a positive hockey experience.
After the second tryout, families can expect to hear back with a decision in the next few days following.
